World Jazz Day is celebrated every year on April 30, and has been so since 2011, when the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization launched this idea with the aim of highlighting jazz and its diplomatic role in uniting people in all corners of the world. Initially, the idea came from jazz pianist and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Herbie Hancock.
